Didi’s home was formed in the attic of a little house somewhere in an urban area of France in the 1920s. It was already night; it was supposed to be dark outside. However, the yellow streetlights and the stars of the deep blue sky coloured the streets like a painting. Inside, the dimly lit and mouldering walls were dotted with contemporary advertisement montages in picture frames, and the little girl’s drawings of her childish naïveté, portraying her family wholesome and together. Watching only the drawing, one could assume it was as happy as any perfect family could be. She lived in an evidently poor environment, but the Christmas-light-like bulbs and stars hanging from the ceiling made it an oddly cosy home.
